Older PGO BIG MAX 50 engine converted to GY6 150cc, rear original rim do not fit

GY6 150cc into 50cc Frame?

Richard M. A. Corp converting his PGO Big Max scooter. Trying to get a short case GY6 150cc into the frame. PGO rims / wheels does not fit though:

"I have an old PGO Big Max 50 with a bad motor. I bought a Gy6 150, but the hub of the rear rim will not fit over the brakes that the new motor came with. I don’t know if the spline fits or not, I think it does. I need to buy a new wheel before I can mount the motor.

The tire on the bike is 120/90-10, he believes it to be a 10 x 2.5" wheel."

Suggestion: Might wanna try get a GY6 short case rim because short case uses 49cc brake pads (source Internet, Jason H.).

Looks like 5 inch something?

Good to know: 50, 125, 150 all have different brake sizes
Engine seems to fit the frame at least.

Hope to see Richard succeed with his build. Good luck. Let us know how it works out!

GY6 Bench Test Harness

 Bench Test Harness for GY6

Keeping Throttle and starter switch butten on a loose steering might be the easist way if you want to have controll over the carburetor.

Does not look too hard. Check out Sue Carman's video

Splice the Black/White Kill Switch Wire from the 2 Pin Wire to Blue/White Trigger Wire. (In most Motor Cycles/Mopeds/Scooters Grounding a Coil will instantly kill the motor. This one way Kill Switches work).
Connect the other End of the Kill Switch to the Ground Strap.

Another way of mounting Tongsheng TSDZ2

 Motor mount with rivet nut

"Inspired by one of the members I did a wee anti-twist mod today. Added 10mm rivnut, turned motor all the way towards front of the frame so it rests on 2mm rubber pad I double-taped there and secured with the bolt which was used for the original anti-twist bracket.

If it is going to move now, it is going to rip that rivnut off from the body, but since most of the twisting force will be absorbed by the frame where the motor leans againts the rubber pad I think it is going to be rock solid.

Made a mark to see if the big nut will move too at all. As a "side effect" I have plenty space to attach a kick stand now 😃

Btw, used a spacer from old wheel axle." - Vi Ad

Different Motor Mount Tongsheng TSDZ2 with rivet nut in frame
What do you think of this motor mount?
What about frame structure?

It's a steel frame. When the bolt is screwed into rivnut it basically fills the hole and props it up too, reinforces it. Should be pretty okay.

Why didn't he just use the original anti rotation bracket that came with the motor?

"I did go for my first ride yesterday and it went undone, partially because I had a spacer there to be able to pass derailleur cable under the bottom bracket. I did reroute it with full length housing today. Still, it would be tricky to fit a stand. It is perfect now." - Vi Ad

Looks a bit weird but I guess he couldnt make his stand work otherwise.

Super Soco Cux vs Niu alternatives

 Swedish / English mix

1100 mil pÄ Super Soco Cux Àn sÄ lÀnge:

Kommentar till videon https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wGgb9cqo2k

--------------  -----------

Kostar runt 37 - 38 tusen kronor.

--------------------

M3:

Komfortabel, Àven vid lÀgre strÀckor

Stark motor, snabb acceleration

Yadea G5 can fit a helmet and has its battery under the floor. Price is 30k SEK here in Sweden. Yadea also has a G5s with 4.1kw motor capable of doing 50mph. It has two batteries and the helmet storage place is gone on the S-model.

- anonym

Super Soco Cux, like the design. Pretty strong motor. Weight just about manageable (81 kg). Derestricted it goes about 60 km/h topspeed.

It has a telescopic fork and at the rear it is equipped with Dual shocks.

Super Soco Cux is easier to derestrict than Niu. (Used to be, on newer ECU it is not!)

Super Soco Cux verkar trevlig. AnvÀnds som electriskt hyrmoppe (Go sharing) i nederlÀnderna.

Weight about 80 kg (including battery). The CUx has a narrow shape and a weight of 68 kg without battery. Some say it weight 81 kg with battery.

The Horwin EK1 is 92 kg without the battery.

Lacka Sachs moped motor

For better looks: Polish side cover to chrome finish

100 hand cramps later

12 inch Cotton Cloth Polishing Buff Wheel make this job a piece of cake but when u do it all by hand you appreciate way more.

How To Polish a Motorcycle Engine Cover:
Start by cleaning it! Of course.

Down below..Look at this! Photo provided by K. Wilkinson

"Removed any mounts i wasnt gonna use sanded it down smooth and hit it with my buffer." - K. Wilkinson

Honda AF18 motor.

If you have surface marks starts with 220 sandpaper and then go to 400. It start looking better, but as last step you go to 800 and 1500 to smooth out some of the scratches..

Then use diffrent types of compounds for the polish.

I've also heard some use Autosol to get the shine. Good look. There are lots of videos showing how to do it on Youtube!

A Honda Elite motor I believe, what a finish!

Moped Puncture on inner tube - Byta dÀck tips (Swedish and English) / Change tires tricks

Trouble fixing puncture, inner tube get squeezed?

This is a Piaggio Ciao inner tube where the owner had problems getting the inner tube back without squeezing it and getting a new puncture. Here are some great tips from knowledgeable people.

Thanks everyone for the tips.

Inner tube with lots of punctures! Ciao tube.
Ouch! Does not look like fun, right. Inner tube with lots of punctures! Moped Piaggio Ciao tube.

"If you have hard tires, you can't avoid using tire irons, with the risk of a broken tube and damaged rim as a result.

You can try the trick with cable ties, i.e. threading 6-8 cable ties around the tire with a hose inside. After that, start heeling with a tire iron. My experience is that the risk of a broken (inner tube) hose is reduced when the hose is fixed inside the tyre. In addition, the tire irons can be used against the cable ties so that they do not touch the hose. No guarantee, but a tip." - M. Bredford

"For soft tires and some lubricant, it's almost just hand cranking. Personally, I drive exclusively with Heidenau and their tires are rock hard as a result of reinforcement in the sides. Then hand strength is not enough, but you need tire irons and a little extra patience." - M. Bredford

Thank for the pictures! Photos from J. Lundin

Using cable ties with the inner tube in place makes it easier. Also using some soup helps. Then after getting the tire on the rim you can simply remove the ties. Piaggio Ciao wheel.

Oven on reasonable temperature can help. Do not over do it!

"With small rough tires on minicrosses, it has helped to heat the tire a bit in the oven to get the last millimeter." - C. Boman

"Yes (//a soap brand//) or soap on the edge of the rim helps, as well as pressing the tire down to the bottom of the rim before you take the last sluggish bit." - P. Bygdeson

"Put the tire in with the tube. Bundle together with approx. 10 cable ties all around. Poke the valve. Roll on the bundled tire with a tire iron. Soap is not needed. But the iron must go past the entire tire (which should be obvious when it is bundled together." - F. Ekholm

-----------------------  -----------------

Another alternative:

"Ever needed to change a tubeless tire on a scooter, and wondered if using ratchet straps would be better than zip ties? WONDER NO MORE!!!

I thought it would be a good idea to try it, the ratchet straps are way stronger, way gentler on the rubber since the force is distributed and make the job way faster and easier, by way far lol.

I'm not sure If it's because I used that approach or not but these suckers beaded right up as soon as I put air to them without using straps around it." - R. Ryniak

============== Swedish / Svenska ==============

- P. Bygdeson

"In med slangen dÀcket. Bunta ihop med ca 10 buntband runt om. Peta in ventilen. - F. Ekholm
